DealerCockpit or the spreadsheets you already have.

Spreadsheets work, which is why nobody replaces them. This page is honest about what they do well, where they break, and what you take on by moving.

What a spreadsheet does well

  • It is free and everyone knows it.

There is nothing to buy and no one to train.

  • It bends to any question.

One-off analysis in a spreadsheet is faster than in almost any product, including ours.

  • It is yours.

No vendor, no subscription, and it works offline.

Where it breaks

  • Every department keeps its own copy.

The deal is typed into the deal log, the funding sheet, the recon list and the recap, and the copies drift.

  • Nobody is told when something changes.

A sheet cannot alert the people on a deal, so people ask each other instead.

  • Everyone sees everything.

A shared file cannot hide gross from a salesperson or restrict a recap to managers.

  • There is no record of who changed what.

When a number is wrong, there is nothing to look at.

  • It depends on one person.

The person who built the sheet is the only one who understands its formulas.

What moving costs

We would rather you know before you ask for a seat.

  • It is a beta.

Not everything works as well as we plan yet, and new features keep arriving.

  • Setup is a conversation.

There is no self-serve trial. About thirty minutes of setup on our side, and your people are working in it the same week.

  • You give up total flexibility.

The screens do a defined job. If you want a custom pivot, you can still export any log to Excel or CSV.

  • Your DMS connection is separate.

It works without one, and a connection depends on your DMS provider granting your store API access.

Try it in the beta.

DealerCockpit is in beta and we are looking for dealerships to try it as new features arrive. Not everything works as well as we plan yet.
